Let's break down the communication barrier between Deaf and non-Deaf people!
ASLIS was officially established as a company in the 2004 and has been providing interpreting services since.
ASLIS utilizes interpreters skilled in both transliterating (English to a more English like sign system and vice versa) as well as interpreting (English to a more ASL structure and vice versa).
ASLIS prides itself on using qualified interpreters. Qualifications required vary for each assignment based on consumer needs, and content of the assignment. ASLIS utilizes interpreters of all levels based on the demands of each assignment.
ASLIS believes in pairing a higher skilled or seasoned interpreter with a less experienced interpreter in order to improve the skill of this interpreter if s/he so chooses. This is our way of giving back to the community and improving interpreters. Interpreters need challenging assignments to expand and improve their skills but this needs to be done without a disservice to the clients involved.
ASLIS requires all interpreters to be certified by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services - Office of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services - Board of Evaluation of Interpreters and/or Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, the national certification agency.
ASLIS will provide interpreters all hours of the day and night, including weekends and holidays as able to do so.
